Present
Today’s repertoire is created mostly with songs, dances and folk customs from southern
(Walachia – part of Czech Republic). The ensemble cooperates with the dulcimer band
TOLAR from Ostrava witch also comes from the ensemble of ŠEVČÍK – Moravian folklore
ensemble. The dulcimer band works with music from various regions of Czech Republic
for example Walachia, Lachia and Silesia, but also Slovakian, Hungarian, Romanian
and Gypsy’s traditional folklore. We have taken part in many domestic and foreign
actions and festivals during our very long existence.
The ensemble has participated in many actions while existing. It has performed in
Czech famous folklore festivals in Rožnov, Stražnice and Liptál. Abroad it has pleased
spectators in Hungary, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Russia, Austria, Slovakia, Poland,
Denmark, France, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Japan and Canada too.
Activity is focused only on training and improving the quality of the work of its
own members but also to attempt to bring the beauty of folklore art and folklore
traditions to the general public, not only adults but also youth The ensemble has
collaborated with other arts organizations, both from our and from other regions,
is an active member of the national organization "Folklore association of Czech
Republic".
ŠEVČÍK - Moravian Folklore Ensemble takes on a regional cultural field of a permanent
place. A considerable number of fans and have found great success as regular annual
Walachian balls, the goal is to present an atmosphere of traditional Walachia festivities.
Balls have lot of supporters in the middle age category, the public and among young
people, and not just among members of other folklore ensembles.
One of the fundamental pillars of the folklore dulcimer music files. The ensemble
works together with traditional folklore music band called TOLAR, as well as with
traditional folklore music bands called USMEV.
An indispensable partner of the ŠEVČÍK - Moravian Folklore Ensemble is Holubek Children's
folklore ensemble, which in 2004 celebrated its tenth anniversary. It becomes a
tradition that grew out of the dancers that child grow up in a members of the Sevcik
- Moravian Folklore Ensemble.
History
The deep beginnings of the folklore ensemble go back to 1950 when the ensemble was
founded at Factory Club of the famous industrial company called Nová Huť in Ostrava,
since 1951 the Ensemble of Ladislav Ševčík as being engaged with many artistic streams.
The folklore ensemble had been presented under this name till 1990 when the original
name was changed to Moravian Folklore ensemble – ŠEVČÍK. The ensemble started working
independent after agreement with Cultural House at Ostrava a former founder and
operator a civil association ŠEVČÍK - Moravian Folklore ensemble in July 1999.

In 2001 the ensemble returned to work with children and youth. In cooperation with
the ensemble for adult’s the ensemble for children “children Moravian Folklore ensemble
Ševčík arose in Cultural House of Nová Huť.
In 1999, the ensemble due to the abrupt social changes independent and continues
its work as a civic association Sevcik - Moravian Folk Ensemble.
